About Me

I grew up loving early Jazz and Swing music and I have been dancing for over eight years now. Wow how time flies! I wear many hats: dancer, teacher, mother, wife, Lindy Hop champion, business owner, amongst others. When I’m not playing with my daughter, rehearsing with Mikey, running Cherry Bombs practice or travelling around the world, Shesha and I like to abscond away to our favorite coffee shop.

I won first place in a Pro-Am competition (a couples contest where one dancer is ranked professionally and one is an amateur wherein the amateur in the winning couple establishes pro status) at Camp Hollywood early in my dancing career which launched me into the world of professional competition. These days I dance and compete with Mikey Pedroza and my husband Shesha Marvin. I’ve had the opportunity to perform in numerous movies and music videos including Katy Perry’s music video Thinking of You. In 2007 I performed on ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars with Hot Club Stomp.

My philosophical approach to dance is grounded in the idea that we should dance for ourselves and no one else. Be sure to take classes and private lessons from all of the instructors who inspire you but remember that we all have our own way of doing things and no one way is the right way. The most important thing that you can do is form your own opinions about the dance and continue to learn.

My projects:

ATOMIC Cherry Bombs
As owner of ATOMIC Ballroom, I spend a lot of my time hanging out at the club and social dancing. I saw a lack in the dance community for solo dancers, especially amongst followers. This inspired the creation of the ATOMIC Cherry Bombs, an all girls dance troupe specializing in vintage jazz dances from the 1920s to the 1960s. The team members are comprised of professional and amateur dancers. One of my main goals for the team is to get to know the followers in the community, so I encourage every follower to come out and dance with us. One of my favorite tasks for the girls is at the end of practice we often solo dance to a favorite Charleston tune, to encourage solo improv and to really create a spirit of comradery and inspiration.

Hot Club Stomp
Professionally I perform with Hot Club Stomp, and we travel the world dancing and sharing our love and talents for old school jazz dancing.

24 Hour Cancer Dance-A-Thon
Its important to Shesha and I to give back to our community that has given so much to us. We began the 24 Hour Cancer Dance-A-Thon over five years ago as a way to bring our community together doing something we love, all the while giving back to the community. The Dance-A-Thon partners with the City of Hope and all of the funds raised are donated to cancer research. It is so inspirational to learn about our friends in the dance community from a whole new perspective and see how willing everyone is to stay up for 24 hours and really work hard to raise money and awareness for cancer research.

Inspiration Weekend
Shesha and I travel so much, that we really get to experience many different perspectives on this dance we call Lindy Hop. Our home base being in Southern California has its own great dance scene, but we realized that many of our local dancers don’t get to experience these other aspects of Lindy Hop. So we started Inspiration Weekend to bring in dancers with different perspectives to inspire and expose our local dancers to new ideas about dance happening in other parts of the country.

Orange County Swing Dance Club
The OC Swing Club connects our local community. You can find everything you need to know about the local scene here, from where to take classes, to weekly events to featured events.
